My Favorite Vegan Smoothie Recipies

Smoothie Bowl

Hey guys so I'm back and I wanted to announce that I will be doing new blog posts every Wednesday. Lately I've been proud of my Instagram content but not so much with my blog. I used to post on my blog twice a week and now it's like I only do one or two posts per month. So I want to get back into it and crank out some good content that I feel inspired by. So today I will be sharing my favorite vegan smoothie recipes.

Daily Smoothie

This is the one that I do the most out of all of these and it's so good like the title says. So for this recipe you will need...
-2 bananas
-2 spoonfuls of oats
-A berry mix (I use  strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries)
-A splash of orange juice

Now you will just add that mix to a blender and you will just blend until it's done

Granola Smoothie Bowl

This recipe is perfect for breakfast since it involves granola. So for this one you will need...
-A cup of mixed berries (same mixture as the previous recipe)
-One banana
-One peeled tangerine
-A splash of water
-A handful of granola on top

Now you will just add that everything but the granola to a blender and you will just blend until it's done
Then sprinkle the granola on there and you are done!

Berry Swirl Ice Cream

This one is my favorite out of these recipes. It literally tastes like heaven and it's like ice cream but it's completely vegan! So what you need for this recipe is...
-Three or four frozen bananas
-A splash of almond milk
-Splash of water
-Berry mix (same mix I used for the other recipes)

So you will put the bananas in the blender with a splash of almond milk and you will blend until it's done. Make sure you don't over blend because the mixture is supposed to be a little thick. The mixture is also supposed to be a light yellow color.

Then you will put your mixture in a bowl and clean your blender

After it's clean you will throw in the berry mix with a splash of water and you will blend that until it's done.

Then you will take out a jar or a bowl(I recommend a mason jar), and you will pour in the banana mixture first and then you will pour your berry mix on top. You can really layer it however you want but this is the way I recommend. It's like a layered taste and it's so good!!

That's all the recipes I have for you guys today. I hope you enjoyed! If you want more recipes that I didn't share on here today you can actually go to my Instagram and click on the healthy eats highlight and I have a couple more recipes on there that y'all can check out. See you guys next Wednesday!

10 Benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamps

Have ya'll heard of Himalayan salt lamps? Well if you have not heard of Himalayan salt lamps they are pretty much natural Himalayan salt rocks with a light bulb placed inside of it.  For Christmas I bought myself a Himalayan salt lamp for more ambiance in my room but then I realized that Himalayan salt lamps actually have benefits. So I thought I would go over the benefits in this post!

Himalayan Salt Lamp Benefits
1) Enhance overall breathing
So to start out there are these things called Cilia that are hairs that line the windpipe. Cilia act as microscopic breathing filters. Based on studies positive ions decrease cilial activity and negative ions increase cilial activity. The negative ions have a more positive effect on your breathing and Himalayan salt lamps actually release negative ions and it is believed that Himalayan salt lamps can actually help you breathe better.

2)Purify and cleanse air
Himalayan salt lamps can help filter the air by attracting water molecules and other particles in the air and the Himalayan salt lamp actually absorbs the molecules. This is also called Hygroscopy if you want to look it up. This process is known to remove any gross particles and molecules from the air and it makes the air quality better in that area.

3)Raise energy levels
Positive ions make your energy levels go down but since Himalayan salt lamps release negative ions your energy levels actually go up. Fun Fact: This is why Himalayan salt lamps are commonly used when it comes to energy healing because your energy increases with Himalayan salt lamps.

4)Enhance mood
The negative ions from the Himalayan salt lamp can help increase serotonin in your brain which actually improves your mood and energy levels.

5)Helps you relax and decrease stress
Himalayan salt lamps omit a soft glow that can actually reduce your stress and help you relax. The glow acts as chromotherapy and actually puts you in a relaxing mood. The glow from the Himalayan salt lamp is also known to balance emotional, spiritual, and emotional energies.

6)Improve Sleep
When you are overly exposed to positive ions it reduces the brain's blood and oxygen supply which makes it harder to sleep. So by having the negative ions from the Himalayan salt lamp it is proven to increase the brain's blood and oxygen supply and make it easier to fall asleep.

7)Balance out Electromagnetic Radiation
Whether you believe it or not all of our devices have Electromagnetic radiation. EM radiation releases positive ions into the air constantly. EM radiation can cause fatigue, stress, a weak immune system, and the list goes on. But the nice thing is that Himalayan Salt lamps actually cancel out the positive ions and release negative ions which can prevent static buildup.

8)Reduce Asthma
This one goes along with improving your breathing. Himalayan Salt lamps filter the air and remove all the gross particles and molecules from the air. By having a Himalayan salt lamp it is said that it can reduce asthma since the air will be a better quality.

9)Boost Blood flow
Studies find that negative ions can help improve blood flow and Himalayan salt lamps omit negative ions so the lamps could increase blood flow.

10)Increase Performance
There was a cool study where people had to complete a fourty minute task on the computer and they were exposed to negative ions. After the end of the fourty minutes it was found that when they were exposed to negative ions it reduced stress and anxiety. It also increased their performance. The reason why this happened was because negative ions increase blood and oxygen supplies in the brain and then in turn increase performance.

Now that's all the benefits! A lot of the benefits were due to the negative ions the Himalayan salt lamp omits. Now don't y'all want to get one, I love them! Who knew a lamp could have so many benefits. Thanks for visiting my blog, I'll see you guys soon!

Why You Should Meditate Everyday

Meditating

Meditation. I'm sure we have all heard of it and how good it is for us but how many of us out there actually meditate? To make you guys familiar with what meditating is, meditation is pretty much practicing on your breathing and just closing your eyes and letting it all flow. I don't think there is really a constructive definition to meditation because it's really something that you interpret in your own way. I don't think that there is just one correct way to meditate or anything I think that you can do it in so many different ways. So to get that out of the way-

I think no matter how busy you are you can incorporate it into your routine everyday. It really only takes five minutes but you could go for a longer time period. Just do what works for you. I will say the longer you do it for the deeper you go into it. Most likely if you do it for a longer time than five minutes it will be more effective.

Now why meditate?
Mediation Benefits
So as you can see there are many benefits to meditation. Personally I have experienced most of these benefits myself. Now I really didn't get into mediating until December of 2018, so I have only been meditating for around two months now. But in that time frame I have really enjoyed it and it makes you have a deeper relationship with your inner self. I have felt really present and more aware of the things around me and I feel really happy. Now I've always been pretty happy but it's like it just takes your happiness to a new level. It has also really made me realize just how connected everything in this world is. Like for example our connection to other human beings, animals in nature being connected to their environment, our connection with ourselves. I have also been more relaxed and unbothered and I'm just kind of in my own zone which I love. So I have experienced most of the benefits described and I for sure recommend meditating on a regular basis.

I try to incorporate it into my nightly routine every night. I will say that when you are first getting into it it is hard to be consistent with it but once you get it it will just become natural to you to do it often. I think it is worth it for sure and you could even experience a spiritual awakening from doing it every day. Either way if you get anything out of it you WILL feel happier just by meditating everyday or on a regular basis. So I encourage all of you guys to start doing it.

I am hoping to post more on my blog soon. I know I don't post as much as I used to but I am mostly active on Instagram. So you guys can find me on there @adventureswithcourtt or you can click the little Instagram button on the side of my blog and it can take you to my page. I post on there around twice a week so if you want to see my posts you can go on there.
Thanks for reading and until next time have fun!

My Experience being a Competitive Runner

Being a competitive runner is hard. You go through hardships, victories, scary moments, and most of all you develop a better relationship with yourself and other people. Being a competitive runner really makes you more mentally and physically strong. It can change your life in one blink. Last Year I was an artistic kind of person, I would have never thought to join a sports team because I thought it was for all the preppy rich kids. I was really stereotyping sports, and it turns out that I have met some amazing people through cross country and track. I have grown so much over the past year, and I just keep on growing. Before I joined cross country and track my junior year of high school my mom was always trying to convince me to join cross country. She was so on me to join cross country for such a long time because it really changed her life for the better, and she still runs to this day. Competitive running really can make a difference in anyone's life no matter who you are or what your background is. All you do is go out there and run and just see what you can do.

I established more friends
Once I joined the team I didn't know anyone and I was the awkward kid trying to find their way into the group. It took a couple weeks to establish some cross country friends but when I did establish those friendships it was great. Now me and my track and cross country friends are like squad, and we have gotten to know each other very well. It just takes time to warm up to people and for other people to warm up to you. Running or getting involved in a group in general can really open you up to more friendships, and more connections. Friends have been my favorite part of joining the track and cross country team because we can all relate to each other, and it's always so much more fun to run competitively when you have people by your side.

I have become more mentally and physically strong
You constantly deal with pain if you're a runner. Whether it be a bad ankle, or you're racing in a 5k and you're absolutely dying because it's a hilly course. Running is painful, and I find the best runners are mentally strong. Being mentally strong is the concept that you can do anything, and yes it may be painful but you can get through it. Me being 4th best on the varsity cross country team with a PR of 00:21:22.417 on a 5k I know that it takes mental strength. Really it does not matter who you are, you can be better if you want to be better. If you want success that bad you can obtain it, there is nothing stopping you but yourself. If you push yourself mentally, you will also see physical results. While being a competitive runner, the more time you keep shaving off from your personal record the more you will see physical results. You see physical results from all that training. Before I started running I had cellulite on my legs, and as soon as i started getting into shape I have gotten more toned, and now I have no cellulite on my legs. Running really does build you mentally and physically.

It boosted my confidence and my health
Running and working out in general is very good for your health. You can see more about the benefits of running here. If you didn't know already you need at least thirty minutes of exercise a day. A lot of people take exercise for granted, but it really it makes such a difference. I have always been active but it was not until this year that I got serious about training and becoming fit. Working out makes you feel confident because you know that you're doing this for yourself, and you're taking care of your body. Knowing that boosts your mental state, and self esteem. When I take off days I feel like crap, and I hate it, that's why I don't take many off days. It's like once you get into the routine of working out, you feel like you absolutely need it to function everyday. But it's a good thing to get into the routine of exercise because it's good for your mind, and your body. I have always been confident but there is no doubt that this year I have been the most confident about myself.

I deepened my knowledge about running
Before I started competitive running I didn't know much about running. I thought of it as just another form of exercise, but really there is no much more to it than that. If you want to be a good runner you need to know certain techniques to use in races, you need to know what pace you are, and how to maintain that pace, and most of all you have to know that it's hard to run competitively.

I became apart of the cross country team
Coming into cross country I had no idea about all the pain that goes into running. I was new to it, and when I went to the first cross country meeting I didn't know anyone, and I was standing up against the whiteboard all by myself not really talking to anyone because everyone else in the room knew each other and no one knew me. At the time no one knew my potential, not even me. I went out there, and I started running with the team, I made friends, and I soon found out my potential. I was 4th place on Varsity from the start, and I held that position throughout the whole season. I had almost no experience with running but then I somehow was 4th best on varsity. It was incredible, and everyone always says to me, "you just came out of nowhere".  My coach was the most impressed with me, and he is still impressed with me to this day. I don't want to over toot my horn but do you really want to know how I worked my way up so fast? I took almost no off days, ran lots of miles, I always put my 100% effort into the workouts, and I trained so hard that I would cry or beat myself up over a workout. I was the most hardest working, competitive, and dedicated person on my team, and that's why I just keep getting better and better. When I was at the cross country banquet I received two plaques, one for breaking expectations, and another one for most PR's of the season. I also received my varsity letter. And I'm here to let you know that you can do it too.

I understood more about success
If you want success that badly you can achieve it. You must be willing to give it all you got to make it happen through. You have to put in the work. If you want to be a good runner you can be a good runner, really the only thing that is stopping you is your mind. My coach always tells our team, "you can do anything for five minutes", or "you can do anything for two miles". While physical aspects affect your running, it does not affect it as close to as much as your mental strength. Running has really made me realize that if you want to see results you better put in the work, and it taught me that if you want success you can achieve it.

I joined the track team
Coming from cross country I joined the track team to stay in shape, and hang out with my friends. It is very different from cross country because it's a smaller team, and the races are a lot shorter. I am a distance runner so I run the 4 by 8 relay, the 1 mile, and the two mile. Also for the 4 by 8 relay all we have to do is shave off two seconds from our overall time and then we qualify for state. We are doing it regardless today as you're reading this post, and I'm actually re scheduling my doctors appointment because I'm that determined that we will qualify today. So I will do my yearly checkup at a later time because we have to qualify for state. I'm going to be real I'm that crazy runner that takes it so seriously, and I'm a total overachiever when it comes to running. But I love it! So I will let you guys know whether we qualify. I really hope we do because then we would be the first people to qualify for the 4 by 8 relay in school history. But anyways I'm loving track, and it is very fun.

Now I want to show you guy's my times so you know how I place, and what my stats are overall.
I hope you guys liked all the photos! They are a roundup of some photos from cross country and track. I also hope I inspired some of you guys to start competitive running or to step out of your comfort zone a little bit. That's all for today's post and I'll see you guys on Tuesday with another post.

The Benefit Of Running

Hey guys so if you already didn't know that I'm getting into running, well now you know. I have noticed a difference ever since I've started running. So let's start with the benefits of running.

-Prevents disease
-Improve your overall health
-Helps you lose weight
-Boosts your confidence
-Relieves stress
-Eliminates depression
-Makes you happier
-Helps you get fit
-It helps strengthen your bones in your legs
-Reduces your risk of cancer
-You can make new friends if you get involved in a running group or team
-You can do it anywhere
-You have an excuse to eat carbs if you like carbs
-You live longer
-Better memory
-Gives you a natural glow
-Boosts your energy
-You can get walking the dog over with
-You can sleep better
-Your stamina increases
-You can run your whole life

Now who wouldn't want those benefits? All of those benefits I've felt since I've started running. Running makes me feel so good, and I just feel more energized and happier. It's my outlet for stress relief, and even when I'm not stressed I still run. I love running so much that I'll run in the rain, in the blazing heat, and even in the cold. It's just so enjoyable that I had to make a post about it, and hopefully this post inspires more people to run.

Also guys since I enjoy running so much I decided to start running cross country for my school next year. I'm excited to start running with a team, and hopefully I make new friends from cross country. I already know a couple people on the team, and I've talked to them before and all that, so I think it will be easy to make friends, and ease into the team. There is no cuts, so basically I'm automatically on the team if I want to be there. I've also already started following the workout schedule for team, and pretty much the schedule is 1 day on, then 1 then off, and repeat. And when I do run, I run three miles. So I run 3 miles every other day, and I don't really struggle with it. I don't breathe hard, or get tired out that much. But I do need to work on my pacing a bit. Running is just so fun, and I think I've really found my outlet, which is good. So yeah I'm excited.

Anyways I will see you guys next week with a new post! I hope I inspired some of you guys to run, because it's very beneficial.

How to start living a more healthier lifestyle

Health should be your number one priority. You know why? Because you know you want to get the most out of life, and be happy. If you're healthy you're happy. Mental and physical health will boost your confidence and self love, and make you more happier. You will feel better if you're taking small steps to living a healthier life. You don't have to dive in and work hard at it immediately, you can, but taking small steps is good because you won't get overwhelmed. Ask yourself, do you want to live healthier and happier?

1)Try to include physical activity in your routine
Physical activity is essential for your body because you will have better mental health. you will reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. You will also have more control over your weight. Your ability to do daily activities will increase. And you will strengthen your muscles and bones. Ever since I started working out I have felt so much better, and my mental health has increased dramatically, I feel more confident in myself, and I feel great that I'm taking care of my body.

2)Try to eat healthier
Healthy eating is also essential for a long lasting, fulfilled life. According to webmd.com, "More research is finding that a nutritious diet isn't just good for the body; it's great for the brain, too. The knowledge is giving rise to a concept called "nutritional (or food) psychiatry." Eating healthy has many health benefits, but it also improves your mental health. By eating healthy you'll know the amazing benefits that you'll be doing for yourself, and you will be happier in the long run. You can start trying to be healthier by eliminating sugar from your diet, eating more non processed food, and start eating more raw food, and whole foods.

3)Try to eliminate stress from your lifestyle by redefining success
Most of us live busy, work filled lives. We work hard to have a good future and achieve "success". When most people think of success they think of having lots of money, having the biggest house, having nice clothes, and the best car. We stress ourselves out over it, but we really don't have to. Because the word success is truly not that. Success should be based on happiness, health, relationships, and the quality of life experiences. By not overworking ourselves to achieve social status, we can live a more stress-free life. According to realsociology.edublogs.org, "We spend 57% of our waking time at work during a working life of 46 years." Now think about it what are you really working for? If it's  for the American ideal of success, you're really working for your own unfulfillment. So try to relax a little bit, don't overwork yourself, and live a more minimalistic life.

4)Try to become a minimalist
In the paragraph above I briefly explained a minimalistic value. But I didn't go into detail about what a minimalistic life is so now I will. So minimalism is living a more fulfilling, happier life with less. Less clutter, less stress, less distractions, less unfulfilling things, and more time, more freedom, more meaningful relationships, and more enjoyment. You can live a more fulfilling life by letting go of all the bad relationships, stuff you don't use or get joy from, and also the things that cause you to be unfulfilled. First you can start by eliminating the physical items that you don't use or that you don't get joy from, this removes the excess from your life. The 2nd step would be to start getting rid of bad habits and bad relationships, or anything that causes you to be unfulfilled, and start adding good relationships and habits. Then the last step is to keep it that way.

5)Start trying to live more in the moment
Living in the moment improves your mental health because you're not worrying about the future or the past. You're just focusing on right now, and living in the moment. This helps you get the most out of life because you're focusing on what needs to be focused on right now. Researchers have also found that people who live in the now are happier, more optimistic, less depressed, and more satisfied with life overall.

That's all my tips on how to live a healthier lifestyle I hope you guys can try to incorporate these things into your lifestyle. Have a good day, and I'll see you guys next week with a new post.

How I make my smoothies

Today I'm going to be telling you how I make my smoothies. I make a lot of smoothies so I thought I would tell you guys what I put in my smoothies. So let's get started.
Ingredients:
-Berry Medley
It's good to use a mix of berries in a smoothie because it tastes better, and you get a mix of vitamins too. The one that my family uses includes blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. With this combination, I receive lots of  vitamins. From the blueberries I receive vitamin K,vitamin C, and Manganese. From the Blackberries I receive vitamin E, Folate, Magnesium, Potassium, Dietary fiber, Vitamin K. Manganese, and Vitamin C. From the raspberries I receive vitamin C. Manganese, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Folate, Omega-3, and Potassium. So dang that's a lot of vitamins. The reason why I'm saying all the vitamins that are in these foods are because I want to encourage you, my readers to be healthy.
-One Banana
I include one banana because this adds a more tropical and fruity taste to the smoothie and it has a good source of Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C.
-Wheat Germ
You may be wondering, what is wheat germ? Basically wheat germ is the part of wheat that spouts into a new plant. It's very rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein. What I receive from the wheat germ is vitamin E, folic acid, magnesium, vitamin B, phosphorous, and zinc. The good thing is that you can't even taste it in the smoothie either, so aye why not get healthy and have it taste good.
-Iodine
This is probably another one that you may be wondering what it is. So Iodine is a mineral, and basically you just put it in drinks, and it gives you that mineral. A lot of people are deficient in iodine and that is bad because you need iodine for your thyroid hormones. More than 96 percent of over 5,000 patients tested were iodine deficient, in a clinical study conducted by thyroid expert Dr. David Brownstein. And that's crazy. Iodine has a lot of benefits such as increasing your energy levels, balancing your thyroid, protects from cancer and pathogens, and it improves hair growth-if you're trying to grow out your hair.
-Filtered Water
Make sure you use filtered water if you're going to use water. Orange juice or almond milk would be another good option too.

Steps:
-Put all the Ingredients in the smoothie blender container

-Put the top on then blend until you think it's well blended

Turn off the blender, then enjoy

My workout routine

If you guys know me, you know I love working out. I have not really talked about working out on my blog that much but now it's time to talk about it. I workout everyday and my workout routine is a little bit complex and I thought I would tell you guys how I workout and stay in shape.

Have you guys ever heard of a workout schedule? It is basically like "on Monday I do this and on Friday I do that".  I have certain workouts on certain days.

So this is my workout "schedule"

Monday,Wednesday,Friday, Sunday
10 minute butt and leg workout video that I follow along to
50 sit-ups
50 crunches
20 squats with milk carton
30 reps of lifting milk carton
10 pushups

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
10 minute ab workout that I follow along to
50 sit-ups
50 crunches
20 squats with milk carton
30 reps of lifting milk carton
10 pushups

You may be thinking "she works out a lot". I enjoy working out, that is why I do it so much, I also like seeing the results from me working out. When I started doing ab workouts my stomach got so much more toned. If you just put the hard work in, you will see results. This goes with anything in life, not just working out. I hope this inspires you guys to work out, and start living healthy!

Ways to relax

I made another youtube video on my channel. I thought I would make a video since I have not made one in a while. So here it is. In the video I bascially just talk about how you can relax. I think this video will be great for people that have a hard time relaxing.

How do you view yourself?

I was talking to my friend Aryan and he suggested that I write an article on self esteem. So here I am.
Self esteem is how you view yourself. Your self esteem can either be high or low. A person's self esteem is affected by many things, some examples include appearance, status, relationships, how others treat us, media, etc. Having a high self esteem is what we all want right? Feeling great about yourself is important.

I have a beauty mark above my belly button and I used to not want to wear two piece swimsuits because I was embarrassed of it. I'm not embarrassed of it anymore I mean I felt pretty good when I wore my two piece swimsuit yesterday. I was like damn why was I so embarrassed over it.

If you have low self esteem I would advise you to read the numbered list but if not you can skip over it.
1-Know what your strengths are-make a list of what you are good at(this can be a mental list or physical list)Review your list whenever you are feeling stuck or if you are feeling negative.
2-Step out of your comfort zone-When you step out of your comfort zone you feel feel a lot better as a person and you will grow as a person.
3-Try exercising-Exercising improves your thoughts about yourself and after you exercise you  feel great.
4-Think positively about yourself-When you think positively about yourself it will instantly boost your self esteem
5-Dress in something nice-When you are wearing something that you like you feel great.
6-Be nice to people-You start to feel good about yourself when you are kind to people.
7-Be grateful-Be thankful for what you have
8-Take action-Make an effort to achieve something. Don't overwhelm yourself, just start small. But you have to take action if you want to see results.

I thought it would be good to just write a post about this because how you view yourself does effect you as a person. We should try to be the best person we can be no matter what our issues are or how different we are.

Benefits of sleeping on the floor

Sleeping on the floor sounds weird right? Yeah it kinda is but you get some amazing benefits from sleeping on the floor. So why not give it a shot?

It's been five nights since I first starting sleeping on the floor. I have seen wonderful results from this and I just needed to tell you guys about this new sleeping situation. How I discovered this new way of sleeping was from watching Thriving Minimalist on YouTube and he was talking about sleeping on a yoga mat with a sleeping bag and I was interested that people were sleeping in other ways than on the mattress. I decided to try out sleeping on a hard surface and I discovered that this works better for me than sleeping on a giant, one foot mattress.

It was uncomfortable the first night that I slept on the floor but then these past few nights I've slept nicely and comfortably. I noticed a difference between how I wake up on the mattress vs how I woke up on the floor. When I woke up on the mattress I felt half asleep and still tired. When I woke up on the floor I felt really refreshed and I felt more ready to start the day. Since I sleep on the floor now, I kinda use my mattress as a trampoline. Yeah I'm crazy, but I love it haha. Also look at snookerdoddle on the mattress in the image above. Isn't she just so cute? That was the night that I used the mattress as a trampoline.

My mom told me a few nights ago, "Why can't you sleep on the mattress like a normal person"?  I feel more comfortable sleeping on the floor and it's benefiting my body so I'm just doing what works for me. We have an expectation that we have to sleep on a mattress. But in reality it's our choice to decide what's right for us as a person.

Benefits from sleeping on the floor:
-Less muscle pain
-You Feel more refreshed when you wake up
-Better posture
-Good for internal organs
-You become more flexible
-Aligns the body
-Flows your blood nicely while you sleep
-Inexpensive
-Saves space

I think that you should try to have an open mind to everything because you never know until you try something. When you have a open mind you experience more in life. Sleeping on the floor sounds crazy but I'm so glad that I discovered this. The reason why I'm here talking about this right now is because I have an open mind. So just food for thought people.
